No Limits Project

Bury EST was awarded funding by the Greater Manchester Learning and Skills Council to deliver a 12 month project called No Limits. The project is funded by the European Social Fund was intended to run from 1 January to 31 December 2007. The project contained two strands:

Moving On:

With other local partners, Bury EST wants to improve the pathways to employment for young disabled people leaving education. We will provide intensive support to assist 25-30 young people with learning disabilities to gain employment after leaving school or college. Moving On is aimed at people over 16 years of age with a learning disability who have left education within the last 2 years. Each person must be interested in finding work of over 16 hours per week. Due to funding limitations we have had to suspend referrals to this project. Unfortunately we can not deliver job outcomes on the limited funding available to us through this project. We will continue to support those people already on the programme and seek suitable job outcomes for them.

Our ongoing partnership includes Bury EST, Elmsbank High School, Bury College, Bury Adult and Community Education Service, GM Chamber of Commerce, and the Connexions Service. We hope the partnership will continue to develop over future years so that we can better prepare students for employment.

New Directions:

New Directions was aimed at people in receipt of incapacity benefits who are interesting in preparing to go back to work or improve their employability by undertaking some training. Bury EST provided advice and guidance relating to training and employment. This was delivered in groupwork sessions earlier in 2007 and each participant received individual support to produce their own action plan. We hoped to signpost over 60 people into work, education or training. We actually got very few people referred to this provision and decided to cancel this strand of the project in June.
